What Do YOU do first in detailing a vehicle: Your sequential methodology

Short Version: I usually do the exterior first, but if the interior is so bad that I'll be moving dirt around getting in/out, then I'll attend to that first so the dirt doesn't cause issues if it somehow escapes the interior and gets on the paint. Washing: I *always* do the...

What pad for the extra fine polishing step?

I've used the Red GG Waxing Pad as a Finishing Pad with OK results. BUT generally I don't like the uber-soft/small-pore Finishing Pads, even for Burnishing (which I basically never do any more, but *good memory* Lonnie : ) ). As long as a pad is gentle enough that it doesn't have any cut of...

    Which AIO?

TGates- It is indeed interesting to hear how products perform for others, and what a diff there can be! DesertNate- Like TGates, I always top the various AIOs with *something*. Maybe not FK1000P/etc. but at least a spray LSP, and those are getting pretty good these days. Just using one as a...

    Which AIO?

[...even though..] IF you have enough ZAIO, I'd just stick with that unless you have a hankering to do something different just for the sake of it.

    Which AIO?

Ah, I wondered if anybody would mention that one! I'm currently doing the spare dog-hauler with it. Minimal correction, maybe a *BIT*, a tiny bit, more cut than ZAIO, it'll do something but don't expect miracles. FWIW, I only tried it as part of a "do something different that might even be...

What New Products are you trying in 2025

I'm planning on reworking my Home Touchless approach(es), see if I can speed things up a bit at least for the Maintenance Washes. Got some new pressure washer stuff and finally bought a Foam Cannon. We'll see what I end up doing and how it works out.

    C'mon, People

I'm glad the Forums are working right again, and I do plan to stay active here. There just haven't been any recent threads where I had anything to contribute, and I'm plenty busy with things other than Detailing.

Pet accidents? Pet odors? Beta Testing

I probably already posted this somewhere on this thread, but a quick OTC option is Resolve Urine Destroyer. It needs a *LOT* of rinsing, but it's always worked fine for me, and the previous dog's last year sure put it to the test. Never damaged any surface I used it on either.

So THIS is the new Autopia Forum?

Setec- Right you are, icon in upper right corner next to username :D Thanks for pointing out the obvious, I apparently needed it!

So THIS is the new Autopia Forum?

Yep, first time I've been able to use the Forums in ages. Still pretty busy with things other than Detailing, but yeah, I'm back here.

So THIS is the new Autopia Forum?

Hmmm...is there some trick to finding the PMs or has that feature been discontinued? NO, I haven't put much time into figuring it out for myself :o

Suggestions for a Garden Hose to use for Vehicle 2-Bucket Washing

FWIW.... I use Swan hoses for my foamguns and the pw (since they're never used simultaneously) and black hoses for my rinse water. The black ones are an old (and oft-repaired) GG on one side and one from HF on the other. I really like the HF one, EXCEPT that it has a nasty (to me) odor that...

    Greasegun Cartridges for Polyurethane Bushings

Poly bushings can be sensitive; not every lubricant is appropriate for them. I recently used up the last cartridge in my greasegun and need to buy more. Much as I like ES`s Formula 5, they no longer offer it in greasegun cartridges and there`s no way I`m gonna transfer it from a plastic tub...

    2020 Health & Fitness Thread

It`s that time of year again (already)! These H&F threads generally turn into exchanges between just jrock645 and me, but Bill D has been chiming in and he`s one seriously dedicated walker. Maybe this will be the year when more Autopians start prioritizing fitness. (Heh heh, yeah...JustJesus...

    Current Best Wheel Coating 2019

The OptiCoat (?v1.0?) I used previously lasted for *years*, it`s still doing OK on one set but new tires = new weights = need to at least do the barrels and might as well do the whole job. BUT I keep reading about coatings only lasting a little longer than my idiot-proof AIO + FK1000P regimen...

    2019 Health & Fitness Thread

I`m gonna start this H & F thread right away with the start of the New Year :D I`m still trying to get all dialed-in by my 59th bday in March. Then I`ll just keep that up for a year and hit 60 in great shape. I`d expected to have things pretty well figured out by now, but it seems that I keep...

    2018-19 BMW X2 w/M package?

No, no...not for us. Neither my wife nor I would be caught dead in one. But my BFF is, inexplicably IMO, considering trading in her (almost broken-in, nearly paid for) Grand Cherokee on one of them (leased no less). Anybody got anything good/bad to say about the things? Other than No Jet...
