    I have become a detailing heretic…

Dan- Ah, sounds like the look of the Tec582 gives me an excuse to just stick with the GG, so I'm glad you mentioned that ;) Like the FK, the GG is as all-gloss-look as I can take (and that's on white and silver).

    I have become a detailing heretic…

Lonnie & Dan- I myself would kinda *like* to use TW stuff, but I went GG Ceramic instead for various reasons including product compatibility (and I order from GG anyhow, trying to keep life simple). That lack of dirt-repellency you mentioned is indeed a shortcoming, but I'm hoping their Ceramic...

    I have become a detailing heretic…

That "washed car" point seems especially valid now that even carwashes are using stuff that leaves vehicles nice and shiny. While they're sure not Autopian, around here most every vehicle that isn't a total POS is decent-looking in a "20/20" sort of way, even my neighbor's work trucks all look...

    PANEL WIPES

Ah, yeah..OK...copy that on the Prep-Sol vs. Prep All :o No more post-correction/pre-LSP washes for me, today's abrasive products are clean enough that I don't need to do that any more (not that I do correction much at all any more period). But for those who do the extra wash, IMO using the...

Sumthin’ cool for us old coots - Challenger TA

BudgetPlan1- Well, between the two of you your team effort sure paid off!

Lonnie- Heh heh, we're really dredging up the old products here! Prep Sol, Pre Kleano, yeah used 'em both back in the '70s, but didn't know he was the guy who came up with the former or that anybody was still making the ClearKote stuff, so thanks for the trivia :)

Sumthin’ cool for us old coots - Challenger TA

Nice job on a swell car, BudgetPlan1! (I even watched your video, and I never do that!) And hey, I *LIKE* the green!

    Backing Plate and Pad Sizes

Thanks, kappy! I'd hoped somebody here would have a source, and you came through :D Though yeah...I'm kicking myself for not checking with CarPro, and I forgot all about the B&S pads in general (which I haven't used in the past).

    Backing Plate and Pad Sizes

I too am having trouble finding 4" pads (for my Cyclos). The seemingly identical ones from Rupes haven't been restocked anywhere, and those were my previous alternatives. Lots of Cyclo Model5s for sale, but the only pads to go with them are the Orange and Yellow ones (no thanks) or ones from...

Bogo on some detailing stuff at Advance Auto

Not a fan of the GC, but that is indeed a good deal.

black matte/satin wheels stained white - etched?

Unfortunately, I suspect that Sizzle Chest got it right and they will need professionally refinished. If they were mine, that's what I'd be looking into.

Can this etching be cut down/improved?

Two additional thoughts follow: -Polishing with foam/wool might not be the best idea as those can "follow the topography of the paint", including the "low areas" where it's etched. That would result in paint being taken off without doing much for the etched spots. It would diminish the other...

Can this etching be cut down/improved?

I dealt with SS paint for ages before B/C became common, and most of my '85 jag is still OE SS (IOW, I know a bit about long term care of SS paint). While I'd rather have thick-but-imperfect OE paint, the pix show some rather significant marring (and not just the etching), so since it's SS I...

    PANEL WIPES

Bull7191- If using 845 by itself gives the result you're after, that's the way to go! No point in doing something that's not necessary. There's sure nothing wrong with 845, it's like a more durable version of P21S or a user- and trim-friendly version of M16.

    PANEL WIPES

I'm always surprised when somebody says that using something short-lived underneath the LSP will compromise the durability of the latter. That simply has not been my experience...not with M07 + M16 (which I used for ages), not with VM (remember that one?) topped with Collinite, not with KAIO...
